The Jumping Jenny Coffee House and Restaurant was established in the former
stables of Brantwood in 1985 and has been run by Gillie and Chris Addison as a
separate business since 1991.
When we took it over we had no formal catering training.
Chris had been a City/West End lawyer, used to enjoy giving dinner parties,
as a student in Bristol, then in London in the Seventies, and he is responsible
for the savoury menu. Gillie was in Executive Recruitment in London, and
is from New Zealand, where she learnt baking at an early age. She is responsible for
everything else.
Everything we serve is cooked or baked by us or under our supervision on
the premises, and we constantly strive to
improve what is on offer. A famous success is Gillie's Hokey-Pokey Ice Cream Cake
which makes it well worth organising an evening party in its honour.
